Bearers for the service were Richard Flynn, Dale Amunson, Garland Amunson, Ronald Amunson, Gary Amunson and David Amunson. Interment was in the Soldier Lutheran cemetery with Military honors by Soldier Valley Post No. 462 of the American Legion, Don Pedersen, Commander. Arrangements were by Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier. Merrill A. Amunson, better known to his friends and relatives as “Hubbin”, was born Sept. 29, 1907 at soldier, Iowa, the son of Olaf and Hanora Amunson. He died suddenly Thursday, December 28, 1967 at the age of 60 years, 2 months and 29 days. Merrill had lived in the Soldier community all his life except for the time spent in the Army during World War II. He was a mechanic by vocation and worked with farm machinery and had been employed by the Carlson Hardware in Soldier for almost 33 years. He was a member of the Soldier Lutheran Church and also the Soldier Valley Post of the American Legion. Survivors include four brothers, Clifford, Milton and Lowell of Soldier and Kermit of Ute; four sisters, Mrs. Elaine Norby of Soldier, Mrs. Paul Flynn of Ute, Mrs. Wallace Hanson of Sioux City, and Mrs. Vernon York of Lancaster, Calif.; many nieces, nephews and friends.
