Raymond Archer, 87, of Onawa and lifelong resident of Monona County, died January
8th in his home. 
He was born July 19, 1916 in Castana, Iowa, the son of Ida Ellen (McCrory) and
Lemuel Bird Archer. He 
attended school in the surrounding area.

March 10th, 1938 he was united in marriage to Dorothy L. Leisinger of Castana, Iowa.
To this union five 
daughters and one son were born. Raymond farmed for most of his life in the Onawa
area, later 
working for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for over 25 years. His hobbies
included hunting, 
trapping, fishing and working on guns. The most important things in Ray's life were
his family and 
friends. 

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; four daughters and their husbands, Hope
Thelander and Earl, Carol 
Otto and Fred, Beverly Anderson and Dave, all of Onawa, and Gail VanWinkel and her
fiancé Vernon 
Slatton of St. Louis, Missouri, and a son and his wife, Rick Archer and Cherri of
Onawa, Iowa; 19 
grandchildren, Kim Berens, Jody Ewing, Lori Mathes, Kysa Ewing, Brett Ewing, Tammy
Struble, Terri 
Rutkiewicz, Tracy Schroeder, Troy Hane, Jesse Ooten, Michael Ooten, Danielle
VanWinkel, Diana 
VanWinkel, Danny VanWinkel, Jon Anderson, Chuck Anderson, Chris Archer, Todd Archer,
and Cody 
Archer; 24 great-grandchildren, Matthew Clayton, Erin Bryan, Zach Holmes, Jacob
Holmes, Bill Burgess, 
Jennifer Burgess, Rhett Olson, Brooke Jetton, Lucas Mathes, Angela Ewing, Kevin
Ewing, D.J. Pritchard, 
Anthony Pritchard, Carol Anne Rutkiewicz, Phillip Rutkiewicz, Logan Schroeder,
Hunter Hane, Lela 
Roach, Jace Roach, Savanah Ooten, Jonathan Ooten, Emmy Rose Ooten, Ethan Ooten,
Alexis Anderson; 
and six great-great-grandchildren, Haley Berens, Isaac Bryan, Adam Burgess, Leif
Jetton, Skyler Ewing 
and Savanah Ewing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, June Rose Ooten; a son-in-law,
Daniel VanWinkel; 
a grandson, Shawn Ooten; and three sisters and three brothers.

Services were held at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa on Monday, January
12th at 11:00 a.m. 
with graveside services at a later date. Casket Bearers were Brett Ewing, Troy Hane,
Jesse Ooten, 
Michael Ooten, Jon Anderson, Chuck Anderson, Danny VanWinkel, Chris Archer, Todd
Archer and Cody 
Archer. Honorary Bearers were Dick Warren, Charles Bentley, David Archer, Jess
"Jake" Phipps, Freddie 
Leisinger and Jon Berens. 

Additional Comments:
