Bakken Dies Suddenly (From the collection of Vivian Norby Andersen) Joseph Ingman Bakken, 69 Joseph Ingman Bakken, 69, of 530 13th Street NE, retired educator, died in a Salem, OR. hospital following a heart attack. He was born in Soldier, Iowa. He was president of Mid-Pacific Institute, a private co-educational boarding high school in Honolulu from 1941 to 1965. An auditorium there was built and named for him. Surviving are his widow, Alice; a daughter of Wenatchee, Wash.; a son of Salem; and a sister, Mrs. O. P. Stensland of Salem.
