She passed away at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 9 days. On April 22, 1891 she was united in marriage to Olaus Berg. They farmed in the Soldier community most of their lives and then upon retirement moved into town. Mr. Berg passed away August 2, 1953. Left to mourn her passing are four daughters, Mrs. Ida Gibbs of Sioux City, Mrs. Selma Tanberg of Reno, Nevada, Mrs. Amy Miller of Chillacothe, Mo., and Mrs. Agnes Engebretson of Council Bluffs; three sons, Harold of Monrovia, Calif., Olaf of Laramie, Wyoming and Lambert of Melcher, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Anna Amundson of Soldier; 29 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren; also a number of other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at Soldier Lutheran Church Saturday, January 27 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Maynard Moen officiating. Mrs. Norman C. Hanson was soloist and sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “What A Friend We Have in Jesus”, accompanied at the organ by Miss Jean Amunson. Interment was in Soldier Valley Cemetery under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier. Casket bearers were Lloyd Gibbs, Orlando Gibbs, Marion Gibbs, Don Engebretson, Richard Miller and Ben Chase.
