She had been ill for some time and after returning from the hospital a few weeks ago had been staying with relatives. Funeral services were held at Soldier Lutheran Church Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Harry C. Sorensen officiating. Mrs. Bernard Berens of Dunlap was soloist and sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Softly And Tenderly”. Mrs. Harry Andersen was at the organ. Interment was in Soldier Valley Cemetery under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home. Pallbearers were James Pickle, Clifford Berg, Lester Langendorfer, Norman Thoreson, Richard Thoreson and Ralph Berg. Clara Berg, daughter of Edward and Emma Berg, was born on a farm near soldier, Iowa February 26, 1886, and passed away at Soldier December 2, 1963 at the age of 77 years, nine months and six days. She was baptized and confirmed in Soldier Lutheran Church and was an active member. She received her education in the rural schools. She made her home in Soldier with her sister, Esther, for many years and had also kept house for her brother eight years following the death of his wife. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Hans and Nels, and four sister, Selma, Sadie, Esther and Rachel. Left to mourn her passing are one sister (Minnie) Mrs. Andrew Navrude, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
