He was a son of Edward and Inger Berg. He had been a resident of Onawa the past 10 years since his retirement from the farm near Moorhead. He had also lived in the Ute community for a number of years earlier in life. He was united in marriage to Dora Bramson in 1910 at Redfield, S. D. and to this union two daughters and a son were born: Mrs. James (Irene) Pickle of Moorhead, Mrs. Lloyd (Edna Mae) Brummet of Pampa, Texas and Earl Berg of Eugene, Oregon. Dora preceded him in death on March 25, 1923. On January 6, 1932 he was united to Della Rawlings at Whiting, Iowa. Besides his widow and three children he is survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Berg and Mrs. Andrew Navrude, both of Soldier. An infant son died July 4, 1933. Mrs. Berg was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church throughout his lifetime. A well known and highly respected person, he will be greatly missed by his family and many friends throughout the county. The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 14th at the Soldier Lutheran south church. Pastor Maynard Moen conducted the service. Magnus Jepson sang “Going Down The Valley” and “How Great Thou Art”, accompanied by Mrs. Jepson. Miss Jean Amunson was organist. Casket bearers were William Lee, Virgil T. Johnson, Chris T. Olson and Charles Kopp. Interment was in Spring Valley cemetery at Moorhead with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home.
