These men were brothers and were pioneer settlers in the Soldier Valley Sever Berg had been seriously ill for several months with heart trouble and his death was expected. He died about five o’clock. He was seventy-nine years old. Ed Berg had apparently been enjoying good health and made his customary trip down town Saturday night. He was sitting in front of the Oscar Tanberg jewelry store when he fell over with heart failure. He was taken to Dr. Junger’s office and later to his home where he died at eleven o’clock. Mr. Berg had been troubled with high blood pressure but his condition was not thought to be at all serious. He was seventy-four years old. OBITUARY OF EDWARD BERG Edward Hanson Berg was born May 18th, 1858 in Nordre Land, Torpen, Norway. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith in infancy and was confirmed in the year of 1873. In 1878 he was united in marriage to Inger Andria Bjonsrud. To this union eight childlren(sic) were born. Two little girls and his wife have preceded him to the great beyond. He immigrated to America in the spring of 1882 and located in Soldier Valley where he has lived ever since. He joined the Lutheran church of Soldier shortly after coming here and has been a faithful member of this church since that time. Mr. Berg was a quiet, peace loving man and was always honest in all his dealings. He was stricken with a heart attack about nine o’clock Saturday evening, May 21 and passed away shortly before midnight at the age of 74 years and 3 days. Two sons and four daughters live and mourn the loss of a kind and loving father. They are: Hans, Mrs. Holden Thoreson, Mrs. Andrew Navrude, Clara and Esther, all of Soldier and Nels of Moorhead. Also nine grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. CARD OF THANKS We take this manner of thanking our friends for their help and sympathy and the beautiful floral offerings during the illness and death of our father. The Ed Berg children. --The remains of the two brothers were laid to rest in the Soldier Valley Cemetery. A double funeral as(sic) held at the Soldier church Tuesday afternoon for the two brothers. Rev. Hoifjeld conducted the services. Another unusual thing about this is the fact that Mrs. Sever Berg was buried at a double funeral or rather a triple funeral. Services for an infant daughter and a daughter of Arne Olson were held along with that of Mrs. Berg. The church here was packed to the limit for the funeral services. Darrell Brown of Onawa assisted Ralph Oldham as funeral director for the double funeral.
