He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at this place. Mr. Berg came to America in the year of 1880 and located here at Soldier where he has made his home ever since. Eight years later he was married to Belle Peterson. Eleven children were born to this union. Two died in infancy. Those living are Mrs. Lewis Melby, Mrs. Alfred Nordaker, Hilmer, Mrs. Oscar Tanberg and Alice of Soldier; Mrs. Aubrey Lester of Lyman, S. D.; Mrs. James Roach of Ute, and Mrs. Ellis Kelley of Danbury. Mrs. Berg passed to the great beyond twenty-five years ago. Besides the children Mr. Berg leaves thirty-three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. At the time of his death he was 71 years, 6 months and 3 days old. Sever Berg had lived in the Soldier community more than fifty years. He was a good citizen and has done many worth while (sic) things during his life time here. During the early days he was a farmer and also done considerable well digging and built several water work systems. He was liberal and always willing to do his part in the upbuilding of the community.
