Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Country Lutheran Church in Soldier with the Rev. Margo Fohs officiating. Burial will be in the Soldier Cemetery with military graveside rites by Soldier Valley Post 462, American Legion. Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Bergerson was born June 14, 1922, in Drammen, Norway, the son of Brady and Magna (Holverson) Bergerson. He came to the United States with his parents in 1924 and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. He graduated from Castana High School. He joined the Navy and served overseas during World War II. After farming with his father for several years, he moved to California and spent most of his adult life there. He worked for the city of San Mateo, Calif., and retired in 1984. He moved to Columbia, Mo., to make his home with his brother, Selmer “Sonny” and his family. Survivors include two brothers, Selmer and his wife, Darlene of Columbia and Olaf Bergerson and his wife, Helen of Sumner, Wash.; two sisters, Ruth and her husband, Roger Scoles of Bella Vista, Ark., and Margith “Peg” and her husband, Steve Soukup of Sioux City, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Rudolph, and a sister, Traca. He was born June 14, 1922, in Drammen, Norway, the son of the late Brady and Magna (Holverson) Bergerson. He was a graduate of Castana, Iowa, High School. He moved to Columbia, MO, to make his home with his brother Selmer (Sonny), wife, Darlene, and family. Besides Selmer, survivors also include one brother, Olaf Bergerson and Helen of Sumner, WA, two sisters, Ruth and Roger Scoles of Bella Vista, AR, and Margith “Peg” and Steve Soukup of Sioux City, IA, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Rudolph, a sister, Traca, and several nieces and nephews and cousins. Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 1994, at the Soldier Lutheran Country Church. Interment was in the Soldier Lutheran Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Soldier.
