Mrs. Boe left her home in Soldier in 1951, going to live with her sons Orville and Adrian at the Alrambra Apartments in Sioux City. She was born in Green county, Wisconsin December 14, 1868, the first born child of Holver and Anna Hougen. She was baptized here in the Lutheran faith. Later her parents moved to Dows, Iowa where she spent her youth. She was confirmed the 9th of November 1884 at the Otis Grove Lutheran church, Franklin county, Iowa. From here she moved to Denison with her parents and later to Soldier. She was married to Ole Boe in 1897 at Sioux City, moving to Soldier in 1900. To this union was born six sons, Harold, Roy, Adolph, Orville, Henry and Adrian. Her husband preceded her in death in 1941, and one son Dr. Roy in 1952. Survivors include five sons, Harold of Onawa, Adolph, Orville, Dr. Henry and Adrian, all of Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson of Coeur d’Alene Idaho and Mrs. Emily Gilbertson, La Verne, Calif.; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 17 at the Soldier Lutheran Church. Rev. Maynard Moen officiated and burial was at the Soldier Valley Cemetery at Soldier. The Nelson Berger Funeral Home of Sioux City had charge of arrangements. Five sons and a grandson were pallbearers. Two of Mrs. Boe’s favorite songs were sung at the funeral, “Jesus Lover of My Soul” and “Rock of Ages”.
