	Vernon Earl Brown, 79, of Turin, Iowa, died Friday, January 24, 1997,  
in Sioux City, Iowa.
	Mr. Brown was born June 20, 1917,  near Turin, Iowa, the son of Harl 
and Ruby (Baker) Brown.   On September 9, 1945, he married Esther Laursen.  
She died January 7, 1978, in Sioux City.  He married Joan Christensen on 
August 4, 1984, in Onawa.  
	Survivors include his wife, Joan, two daughters, Carole Brown of 
Omaha, NE, and Emilie and her husband, David Ellingson of Lincoln, NE; one son 
and daughter-in-law, Earl and Donna Brown of Roland, IA; a step-daughter, Jill 
Rice of Omaha, NE, a step-son, Robert K. Hagadron, II of Lincoln, NE; three 
granddaughters; a grandson.
	He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Esther, a 
sister, Shirley Nutt, and a brother, Harl Brown, Jr.
