Last rites for E.M. Cassady, Sr., a pioneer of Monona county resident and well known in Sioux City, will be held at 2 p.m. today, at the Congregational church in Whiting. Rev. G. H Croker will officiate, and interment will be in the Whiting cemetery. Mr. Cassady died Wednesday morning after a paralytic stroke, suffered while he was transacting business in Sioux City. His death occurred as he was being taken home in an ambulance. He was stricken while at the Tolerton-Warfield grocery plant. He was 79 years old. A veteran of the civil war, Mr. Cassady was widely known in the vicinity of Whiting, where he was engaged in the live stock, farming, lumber, grain and banking business. Mr. Cassady was a native of Tainesville, Ohio, but came west to Iowa at the close of the civil war. He settled at Whiting, which was his home until his death. Surviving are his widow, a son and a daughter. West's funeral home will direct the funeral services.
