She had entered the hospital on April 23rd and remained there until her death. Mrs. Chedester had been active in Jordan community affairs for many years and also was interested in various activities. She was a member of the Turin Methodist Church, the W.S.C.S. Society, the Legion Auxiliary at Soldier and Jordan Birthday Club. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Turin Monday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul R. Johnson officiating. Mrs. Harry Andersen was organist and Mrs. Norman C. Hanson was soloist and sang “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Interment was in the Jordan cemetery under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home. Bearers were Edward Hadden, Lewis Hadden, Ward Jones, Walter Hadden, Harry Andersen and Herbert Holverson. Hattie Chedester, daughter of Jackson and Ida Davis, was born at Charter Oak March 5, 1895 and passed away at Onawa, Iowa on September 27, 1962. She was united in marriage to Jesse Chedester at Denison on March 15, 1916. She lived most of her life in Monona county. She was a kind and loving person, always willing to be of help to her neighbors, friends and family. She loved to remember others on birthdays and anniversaries. Mrs. Chedester is survived by her husband, Jesse; six daughters, Mrs. Hazel Pohlman of Ute, Mrs. Audrey Martindale of Castana, Mrs. Marjorie King of Onawa, Mrs. Shirley Buter of Renton, Washington, Mrs. Lois Gallagher of Omaha and Mrs. Joan Chamberlain of Sioux City; 17 grandchildren; two brothers, Earl Hall of Dunlap and Gary Hall of Milford, Michigan; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Paddon of Newburg, Oregon, Mrs. Ruth Bell of Portland, Oregon and Mrs. Ruby Mae Head of Sioux Falls, S.D. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lola, a son, Roland, and five brothers and sisters.
