L.) Christensen Saturday. Death came suddenly and unexpectedly at the St. Joseph hospital in Sioux City where he had gone a few days before. Albert was a long time resident of the Soldier community, living northeast of Soldier a number of years and then a few years back purchasing a farm northwest of town. He had served on many township boards over the years. Funeral services were held at the Soldier Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 15 with Rev. John C. Kilde officiating. Burial was in St. Clair Cemetery at Ute with arrangements by the Oldham Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Carl Kaatz, Harold Ulven, Leonard Holtorf, Wilbur Holtorf, Wilmer Knutson and Tingvald Olson. Albert Lawrence Christensen was born December 22, 1892 four miles northeast of Soldier to Chris and Mary Christensen where he resided until his marriage to Lena Thompson April 5, 1916. They settled on a farm three miles northeast of soldier where they lived until the spring of 1947. Then they moved to a farm northwest of Soldier where he made his home until the time of his death. To this union three daughters were born. His is (sic) survived by his wife, the three daughters, Edith (Mrs. Bennett Longlee) or Soldier, Bernice (Mrs. Harold Shaffer) of Moorhead, and Evelyn (Mrs. Alva Daniels) of Westport, Minn.; also one brother, Carl of Ute, six sisters, Mrs. Annie McShannon of Onawa, Mrs. Nina Mcminimey of Denison, Mrs. Maggie Walters of Anthon, Mrs. Bessie Curnes, Winterset, Ia., Mrs. Elsie Rodriquez of Porto (sic) Rico, and Mrs. Blanche Anderson of Sloan. Nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive, besides a number of other relatives and friends. Albert was a loving and devoted husband and father, friend and neighbor, who was willing to help anyone in need and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
