He was on his way home for dinner from the store where he worked as a meat cutter. He had stopped in at another store a couple of doors away to talk to his wife and then stopped at a cafe. Leaving the cafe he got few feet from his car when the attack hit him. He was taken to the hospital and died within an hour. Dubby, as he was known by everyone here, was a graduate of Soldier high school and was a star basketball player in the days of Vanorden. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Christianson, who operated a meat market here for many years. Dubby left Soldier eleven years ago, having worked for Lloyd Evenson in the Soldier Lockers. Funeral services were held at a funeral home at Socorro with a Pastor Steadman officiating. He was a member of a Lutheran Church at Albuquerque, New Mexico where he lived before moving to Socorro, located a short distance from the Mexican border. He was born at Soldier August 10, 1909. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, the former Velma Knutson Weber of Dunlap; one daughter and one grandchild of Corvallis, Oregon; one sister, Dorothy, as missionary in West Bengal, India; five brothers Lloyd, who recently moved to the state of Washington, Dennis of Conesville, Iowa, Bennett of Sloan, Howard of Ackley, Iowa and Earl (Snooks) of Chicago. All the brothers except Lloyd attended the funeral Friday.
