Christianson, a former resident of the Soldier community, passed away at a hospital in Seattle, Washington on Friday, Dec. 23. Death came unexpectedly as the result of an apparent heart attack. The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27th at the Soldier Lutheran Church with Pastor Harry C. Sorensen officiating. Mrs. Charles Dommer Jr. sang “In The Garden” and “No Night There”, accompanied by Mrs. Harry Andersen at the organ. Interment was in St. Clair cemetery at Ute with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier. Casket bearers were Herbert Gibbs, Chris Steen, Basil Gibbs, William Lee, Clarence Mathiasen and Oscar Foss. Mrs. Christianson was a daughter of the late John and Dora Schlensig and was born April 11, 1901 at Dunlap, Iowa. She had reached the age of 65 years. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Christianson on January 6, 1932 at Onawa, Iowa. She grew up in the Soldier and Dunlap communities and later lived in the Onawa community until about 1945. Then she and Lloyd moved to Missouri Valley where they lived about five years and then moved to Minden, Iowa for 13 years. They had been at the home of a nephew in Seattle, Washington for the past six months. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; two brothers, Marty Schlensig at Dunlap and Harry Schlensig at Soldier; one aunt, Mrs. Nellie Brace of Electric City, Washington; one uncle, Adolph Bolte of Harlan, Iowa, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mrs. Fred Riddle.
