Former Soldier
Man Laid To Rest                                (From the collection of Vivian 
Norby Andersen)

	Bennett R. Christianson, 61, Sloan, died Saturday at an Iowa City 
hospital after a long illness.  Bennett was a former resident of the Soldier 
community, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Christianson, who operated a 
meat market here for many years.
	Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Pearson Funeral 
Home at Onawa.  Rev. Everett Epperson of the First Christian Church at Onawa 
officiated.  Burial was in the Onawa cemetery.
	Mr. Christianson was born Dec. 20, 1905 at Ute.  He married Helen 
Brown February 10, 1927 at Denison.
	
	Survivors include the widow; a son Lowell of Sloan; three brothers, 
Howard of Ackley, Iowa and Lloyd and Earl, both of Seattle Wash.; a sister, 
Miss Dorothy Christianson of Kalinp*ng, India, and four grandchildren.
