Christianson, 54, who spent his entire life in the Soldier community until he moved the Kingsley six years ago, died at the Lutheran hospital in Sioux City Thursday. Harry’s untimely death came after nearly a year of illness. He spent several days in the hospital a few months back but had been up and around until he was taken back to the hospital two weeks ago. He had attended his father’s funeral in Soldier August 18th. Following his services with the Armed Forces in World War I he took a very active part in the Legion and community life of Soldier. He was instrumental in the building of the community hall and gave much of his time to its operation for many years. He could be counted on to do his part on any civic undertaking. Harry was a friendly person and enjoyed life to the utmost. His many friends mourn his death. Funeral services were held at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux City Saturday, September 23 with Pastor Albert Lehman of Soldier in charge. Rev. Paul P. Jackson, Congregational minister of Kingsley assisted Pastor Lehman. The Dickison Funeral Home of Kingsley had charge of arrangements. Interment was at Memorial Park cemetery in Sioux City. Harry W. Christianson, son of the late C. R. Christianson and Mathilda Christian was born at Soldier, Iowa, November 15, 1896 and died September 21, 1950. He was educated in the Soldier public schools and was confirmed in the Soldier Lutheran Church in 1912. In September 1918 he entered the armed services and served with the hospital unit in France. After his discharge from service he returned to the farm home where he lived until 1944 when he moved to Lincoln township in Plymouth county. He resided on the farm there until his death. On December 26, 1936 he was married to Gertrude Brenneman. He is survived by his widow, Gertrude; his mother; two sisters, Mrs. Glen Kruwell of Elgin, Illinois and Mrs. George Hitchcock of Ainsworth, Nebr.; a brother, Clifford, of Fort Dodge, Iowa; six nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends. He was a charter member of the Soldier American Legion Post but transferred to the Nash Post of Kingsley. He was a member of Cosmos Lodge A.F. and A.M. of Kingsley, Sioux City Consistory No. 5 and the Abu Behr(sic) Shrine.
