She was accidentally hit by a truck as she was crossing the road some distance from her home where Chester was in the process of moving a grain bin. Mrs. and Mrs. Davis spent the greater part of their married life in the Soldier community where Chester was mail carrier until he retired. They also farmed west of town for many years. Funeral services were held Sunday, October 1 at 2:30 p.m. at the R.L.D.S. Church at Cameron, Mo. Services were in charge of Elder John Blackstock, Elder David Coffman and Elder Donald Bowman. Interment was in Memory Gardens at Cameron. A large number of relatives and friends from Soldier, Castana and Moorhead attended the funeral. Floris Waive Struble was born April 12, 1897 at Castana, Monona County, Iowa to Ed and Effa Struble. She spent her early childhood on a farm between Soldier and Turin. At the age of eight years she and others of the family were baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She dearly loved the church and spent many hours of service in the cause of Christ. In her youth she moved with her family to a farm near Castana where she attended high school, graduating with the class of 1912. After her graduation she taught school for a short time. On April 3, 1917 she was united in marriage to Chester Davis at Moorhead. After the wedding they went to their farm near Soldier to make their home where they lived for forty-five years. On February 10, 1919 a son was born to bless the home. In March 1962 she and her companion moved to Cameron, Mo. to be near Lyle and family. On April 3, 1967 Floris and Chester celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in their new home near Cameron. She enjoyed her home going about her daily tasks and especially was she happy working with her flowers and garden. On September 28, 1967 her life was taken in an accident at Plattsburg, Missouri. Surviving are her son Lyle, his wife Delora and four grandchildren all of Cameron; five brothers, Edward Struble of Castana, Lloyd of Soldier, Ivan of Turin, Conn of Denver, Colo., and Warren of Co. Bluffs; five sisters, Blanch Poloski of Onawa, Clelia DeVries of Rock Valley, Mildred Amundson and Jennie Noftsgar( of Lamoni and Thelma Miller of Castana, besides a host of other relatives and many friends.
