Delanty 1999 CHARTER OAK, Iowa – Patrick R. Delanty, 60, of Charter Oak died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at a Denison, Iowa, hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Catholic Church at Onawa, Iowa, with the Rev. Frank Nemmers and the Rev. Andrew Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. today, with a Scripture and rosary service at 7:30 p.m., at the church. Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Delanty was born Oct. 30, 1938, at Sioux City to Raymond Joseph and Teresa (Marley) Delanty. He graduated from Onawa High School in 1956 and from Iowa State University in 1961 with a major in Agriculture Engineering and a minor in Civil Engineering. He worked with the Army Corp of Engineers in the planning section until 1961, when he returned to help with the family farm following his father’s death. He married Ann Templeton on Feb. 16, 1963, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Onawa. The couple resided their entire married life on a farm near Ricketts, Iowa. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church at Denison, and the Iowa Soybean Association, where he was state representative for District IV for 12 years, including membership chairman and president of ISA. He also served on the board for six years, including two years on the Executive Committee. He received the lifetime achievement award from ASA in 1998. He was one of five members to serve on the Chicago Board of Trade Task Force. He served on Dean Topals Executive Committee for the College of Agriculture for three years and was currently serving on the Agriculture Engineering Board at Iowa State, helping to plan a new facility for the University. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Teresa Rae of Ames, Iowa, and Sarah Ann of Charter Oak; four sisters, Mary Anne and her husband Tony Sullivan of Ankeny, Iowa, Sarah Rose and her husband Ali Zamoon of Kuwait; Rita R. of Des Moines, Iowa, and Sheila Coyle of South Sioux City. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Danny. Memorials may be given to the St. Rose of Lima Building Fund in Denison.
