MARK DOROTHY (From the collection of Vivian Norby Andersen) Marian H. Dorothy, 69, was born at Soldier, Iowa and passed away at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames on Monday, May 25. She had been ill for several weeks. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 24 from Adams Funeral Home in Ames with the Rev. O. M. Severseike of Ascension Lutheran Church giving the sermon. Burial was in Ames Municipal Cemetery. Mrs. Dorothy moved to Ames with her husband in 1936. She was employed with Malander’s Grocery there from 1942 until 1965. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and of the women’s evening circle. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and of the Past Worthy Matron’s Club. She is survived by her husband, Mark H. Dorothy; a son, John W. Dorothy, Anamosa; a niece raised in her home, Mrs. John Pesek, Ames; a sister, Mrs. Fred Briggs of Soldier; four grandsons, two great nieces and one great nephew.
