Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Ute. The Rev. Charles Jensen officiated. Burial was in the Saint Clair Cemetery in Ute. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Walter Funeral Home in Ute. Mrs. Downing, the former Hazel Kroll, was born March 1, 1900 to Herman and Lucy (Gerten) Kroll in Quimby. She married Rollie Downing on March 14, 1922, in Omaha. He died December 6, 1980. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister. Survivors included two sons, Robert of Ute and a son of Sioux City; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Kroll of Tampa, Florida and five sisters, Mrs. Merle Coates of Tampa, Mrs. Mary Christensen of Loma Linda, California, Mrs. Gordon (Pauline) Carlisle of Brighton, Colorado, Mrs. Edna Etchison of Mapleton and Mrs. Neva Chedester of Ute.
