 Mary Ellison
Dies at Vermillion                         (From the collection of Vivian 
Norby Andersen)

	Mrs. Mary Ellison, 91, a former resident of the Soldier community and 
a resident of Vermillion, S. D. the past 46 years, died Saturday morning in a 
Vermillion hospital.
	Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran 
church there, with Rev. Dale Larson officiating.  Burial was in the Pleasant 
Valley Lutheran cemetery at Lesterville, S. D. under direction of the Elmore-
Wagner funeral home.
	Mrs. Ellison was the former Mary Knutson and was born at Soldier April 
28, 1872.  She married Thore O. Ellison February 4, 1895.  He died in 1931.
	She was a member of  Trinity Lutheran church, the ALCW auxiliary, 
Order of Eastern Star and the Rebecca Lodge at Vermillion.
	Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Grace Johnson of Vermillion and 
Mrs. Mildred Giedd of Avon, S. D.; five grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren.
	Among those preceding her in death were one sister, Sarah (Mrs. J. C. 
Johnson), and three brothers, Peter C., Lewis and Charley Knutson.
	Attending the funeral from Soldier were Mrs. Etta Knutson, Mrs. Emma 
Hanson, Mr. and Mrs. Wilton McDole and Mrs. John Wade.
