“Jap” Etchison Dies			Date indicated – April 14, 1958

	John F. (Jap) Etchison, 55, prominet(sic) Mapleton resident, died 
suddenly Monday of a heart attack while inspecting the new cement plant at 
Mapleton.  Jap, as he was known throughout western Iowa, has been auditor for 
Green Bay Lumber Co. the past four years and served as manager of the Mapleton 
yard for 35 years.  He was well known by sports fans in years gone by as he 
was an outstanding athlete and referee.
	Funeral services were held at the Mapleton Methodist church Wednesday 
afternoon with Masonic graveside services.
	Survivors include the widow (the former Edna Kroll of Ute who is a 
sister of Mrs. Hazel Downing and Neva Kroll, teachers in Soldier); a daughter 
and one son.
