Clara Evenson, a longtime resident of the Soldier community, passed from this life at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa on Saturday, November 29, 1969. She was born July 16, 1883 at Oslo, Norway and came to this country in 1903 and had lived in the Soldier community since that time. She was united in marriage to Nels Evenson in December, 1903. He passed away in 1946. Mrs. Evenson is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Frank Jones of Dunlap, Iowa and Mrs. Ernest Harp of Santa Monica, California. There are three grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one brother, Emil Sweum of Sioux City and two sisters, Mrs. Nina Korslund in Norway and a sister in Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by a daughter Christina Olson, one sister, Anna, and three brothers, Olaf Gustave and Adolph.
