She recently underwent surgery and seemingly was improving and was staying at the Oscar Foss home in Onawa. On Saturday she suffered a stroke. Josie Foss, a lifetime resident of the Soldier community, passed away at a Sioux City hospital Sunday morning, February 18, 1968. She was a daughter of Ole A. and Julia Foss and was born August 21, 1899 at Soldier. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Carl and Martin, and three sisters, Ovedia, Mrs. Einer Torgerson and Mrs. Einer Haugen. She is survived by four brothers, Otto of Soldier, Henry of Galva, and Alfred and Oscar of Onawa; one sister, Elma, now Mrs. J. D. Ryan of Omaha, Nebr., and a number of nieces and nephews and many friends.
