Marie Fredricksen, daughter of Rasmus and Antonnette Jorgensen, was born near Horsens, Denmark on October 19, 1873 and passed away at Woodbine on November 24, 1961 at the age of 81 years, one month and five days. At an early age she was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. She was a member of the Ingeman’s Lutheran Church. At the age of 17 she left Denmark for America, coming to Onawa to be near a sister and brother. On June 19, 1892 she was united in marriage to Anton Fredrickson at the Ingeman’s Lutheran church near Moorhead. Her husband preceded her in death on July 25, 1953. The first six years of their married life was spent on a farm near Onawa. On March 1, 1998 (1898?) they moved to their farm in Sioux township where they lived until they retired to their home in Moorhead in August 1929. To this union six children were born. One son died in infancy. She leaves to mourn her passing, three sons, Raymond and Arthur of Moorhead and Harold of Turin; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Nelson and Mrs. Esther Bell, both of Moorhead; eight grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of a family of ten children. The past six years Mrs. Fredrickson’s life had been one of frailty and sickness. On June 3, 1960 she entered the Rose Vista nursing home in Woodbine where she remained until her passing. Mrs. Fredrickson was a kind and loving mother and devoted her life to the welfare of her family. She was a good neighbor and friend and was always ready to help those in need. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
