Roy Herbert Gran was born October 8, 1913, the son of Christian and Maude 
Braden Gran in Soldier, IA. He died Monday, March 4, 2002 at the Maple Heights 
Nursing Home in Mapleton, IA. 


On June 6, 1940, Roy was united in marriage to Esther Bartels  in Ute, Iowa. 


Roy was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Harlan in 1993, three 
sisters, Lillian Gran, Ruth Gran and Edna Stockfleth and one brother, Merrill 
Gran in January of 2002. 

Survivors include two sons, Gailen Gran and his wife, Phyllis of Des Moines 
and Austin Gran of Boston, Massachusetts; five grandchildren; and eight great-
grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Jahn of Gillette, Wyoming, Beulah 
Thompson and her husband, William of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Nadine 
Friedrichs and her husband, Don of Charter Oak, Iowa.
