Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18 at the First Christian Church in Onawa. Rev. Everett Epperson conducted the service. Mrs. Orland Ferris sang “Near To The Heart of God” and “Beyond The Sunset”, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Carl Linden. Interment was in Jordan cemetery west of Soldier with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home. Casket bearers were Lewis, Don, Harvey and John Hadden, James Clemon and Larry DuVal. Mrs. Maggie Adeline Hadden was born October 27, 1878 at Red Oak, Iowa and passed from this life on November 15, 1963 at Turin, Iowa at the age of 85 years. On May 24, 1894 she was united in marriage with Lewis Hadden at Red Oak. They moved to Monona county the year of their marriage and since that time she had made her home here. Mr. Hadden preceded her in death on January 8, 1917. She had accepted the Christ as her Saviour and was united with the Methodist church at Turin. Mrs. Hadden was a wonderful Christian woman, always ready to help one in need. Grandma, as she was affectionately known by all, will be very much missed in the community. Survivors include: her four sons, Walter, Edward, Roy and James, all of Castana; her one daughter, Mrs. Ward Jones of Soldier; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Hall of Longview, Washington; five sisters, Mrs. Iona Mattinson of San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Edna Bales, Mrs. Blanch Lupenski, and Mrs. Morris Olander, all of Omaha, and Mrs. Elmer Hagglund of Red Oak. There are a number of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by four brothers.
