Nurses had gotten her up in a chair and shortly after she returned to her bed death came suddenly. Mrs. Halverson had been local librarian for 35 years and taught school for ten years in Soldier and Willow townships. She had also taken an active interest in the church and ladies aid while in good health. Funeral services were held at Soldier Lutheran Church Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 2:00 o’clock with Pastor Maynard Moen giving the sermon. Mrs. Norman C. Hanson sang “I Heard The Voice of Jesus Say” and “Come Ye Disconsolate” with Miss Janice Olson at the organ. Burial was in Soldier Valley Cemetery under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Orren Rude, Page Carlson, Andy Ballantyne, Olaf T. Olson, Martin Torgerson and Oscar Wingate. Belle Halverson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Millard, was born at Dunlap Iowa January 4, 1881 and passed away at the Denison hospital December 11, 1960 at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 7 days. On March 31, 1908 she was united in marriage to Henry Halverson at Logan, Iowa. To this union two children were born. She as librarian for 35 years and taught school for ten years in Soldier and Willow townships. She also was active in Soldier Lutheran Church and was a member of the W.M.F. Surviving are the husband, two sons, Clare and Donald, both of Soldier; one brother, Henry Millard of Dunlap; three sisters, Mrs. Carl Nelson, Mrs. John Boe and Mrs. Mary Casperson, all of Dunlap, and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
