Henry Halverson
Called By Death                             (From the collection of Vivian

	Henry Halverson, a lifetime resident of the Soldier community, passed 
away Saturday evening, Sept. 24 after an illness of several months.  He had 
been a patient in the Burgess Memorial Hospital at Onawa since July 8th.
	Henry operated a garage and service station in Soldier until his 
retirement about 20 years ago.
	Funeral services were held at Soldier Lutheran Church Tuesday, 
September 27 at 2:00 o’clock.  Pastor Harry Sorensen officiated.  Mrs. Norman 
C. Hanson sang “I Heard The Voice of Jesus Say” and “Softly and Tenderly”, 
accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Charles Dommer, Jr.
	Interment was in Soldier Valley cemetery under the direction of 
Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier.  Bearers were Gary Carlson, Donald Thoreson, 
Joe Jary, Robert Halverson, Page Carlson and Olaf T. Olson.
	Henry Halverson was born February 26, 1884 at Soldier.  He had reached 
the age of  82 years, 6 months and 28 days.
	On March 31, 1908 he was united in marriage to Belle Millard at Logan, 
Iowa.  Mrs. Halverson died on December 11, 1960.
	Mr. Halverson was a member of the Lutheran church in Soldier and was 
always interested in the work of the church and the affairs of the community.  
He operated a garage and service station in Soldier until his retirement.
	He is survived by two sons, Clare Halverson at Marshalltown, Iowa and 
Donald H. Halverson at Soldier.  There are four grandchildren and two great 
grandchildren; two sister, Mrs. Emma Hanson of Soldier and Mrs. Ovedia Eneboe 
of Denver, Colo. And also a number of other relatives and many friends.
