Harris 1995 SOLDIER, Iowa – Gunda C. Harris, 93, of Onawa, formerly of Soldier, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 1995, at the Onawa Care Center. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Soldier Lutheran Church with the Rev. Thomas R. Hagen officiating. Burial will be in the Soldier Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church. Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Harris was born Oct. 22, 1901, in rural Soldier, the daughter of Andrew and Jennie (Johnson) Swenson. She married Guy Harris July 15, 1920, in Soldier. The couple farmed in the Soldier area. He died Jan. 9, 1975, in Onawa. She moved into town in 1981 and to the Dunlap Care Center in 1993. She later moved to the Elmwood Care Center in Onawa. Mrs. Harris was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and circle of the church; Soldier Valley American Legion Auxiliary Post 462 and the Soldier Senior Citizens Center. Survivors include two sons and their wives, Arthur Glenn and Alice of Grants Pass, Ore., and Calvin Guy and Kathryn of Logan; two daughters and their husbands, Helen Mae and Harry Leinbaugh of Moville and Shirley Ann and William Golden of Lyman; a sister, Grace Carritt of Soldier; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Eddith; an infant son; five sisters and two brothers. Gunda C. Harris 1995 Gunda Christina Harris, 93, of Onawa, Iowa, formerly of Soldier, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 4, 1995, in Onawa. Mrs. Harris was born October 22, 1901, near Soldier, Iowa, to Andrew and Jennie (Johnson) Swenson. On July 15, 1920, she was united in marriage to Guy Harris at the Soldier Lutheran Country Church. Mr. Harris died January 9, 1975. Survivors include two sons and their wives, one of Grants Pass, Oregon, and another of Logan, Iowa, two daughters, one of Moville, Iowa, and Shirley Ann and her husband, William Golden of Lyman, Iowa, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a sister, Grace Carritt of Soldier. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Eddith, an infant son, two grandsons, five sisters, and two brothers.
