She was baptized and conformed and attended Sunday School in the Soldier Valley Lutheran Church. In the spring of 1938, she graduated from the Soldier Public School, after which she worked in Onawa, Sioux City and for the past year in Los Angeles, California. Eddith had always enjoyed good health until late last summer after she had donated blood to the Red Cross for the third time. She became very sick after her arrival at home and was taken to the hospital in Sioux City where, after two months, she died Tuesday, December 7th. She departed this life at the age of 21 years and nine months. Eddith was a girl of unusual friendliness and optimism, her presence will be greatly missed among her loved ones and friends. She is survived by her parents, two brothers, Arthur Glen and Calvin, and two sisters, Helen Mae and Shirley, besides a host of relatives and friends. Blessed be her memory. Funeral services were held from the south church Friday afternoon, Rev. Hoff officiating. Interment was in Soldier Valley Cemetery in charge of Ralph Oldham. “I cannot always trace the way, Where Thou Almighty one doth move But I can always, always say That God is Love.” Yes ‘God is Love’; a thought like this Can every gloomy thought remove; And turn all tears, all woes, to bliss For, ‘God is Love’” Eddith Harris Dies The community was saddened Tuesday upon learning of the death of Eddith Harris, 21 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Harris. Doctors had given up hope for her recovery several days ago, but it was thought she might remain alive for some time. Eddith entered the St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City several weeks ago when she returned from California because she had not been feeling well. It was learned at that time that an old childhood illness had returned and everything possible was done to cure her of the disease. After the poison had entered the blood stream doctors said nothing more could be done other than relieve her suffering. Eddith was in the prime of her life, a loving daughter, sister and friend. Everyone respected her highly for her fine character and pleasing personality, always treating everyone alike and holding grudges against know one. She was held in highest esteem by the people she worked for and the lady she worked for in California was at her bedside as much as possible and did everything she could to relieve her suffering. Eddith graduated from Soldier High School in 1938, and her classmates and many other friends are grieved at her death. Funeral arrangements have not been made as relatives are waiting word from a brother, Glen who is on maneuvers in Louisiana. The Sentinel extends sympathy to the bereaved parents.
