Lars Harrisville 1925 From the Lutheran Church Herald (Transcription does not detail all of his pastorates as included.) REV. LARS HARRISVILLE, pastor of the Norwegian Lutheran Church at Lisbon, Illinois, died suddenly at his home in the Lisbon parsonage Tuesday evening, December 22nd, at about 7:30 p.m., at the age of 61 years, seven months, and eleven days. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, May 11th, 1864. He was the son of Knud Knudson Harrisville and Marine Karine Larson. His father was one of the Lutheran laymen of Chicago, coming from Norway in 1845. They were members of the Trinity Church, where he was baptized, received his first Christian training, and was confirmed. In the same church he was in due time married and ordained to the Gospel Ministry. In early youth he came into conscious fellowship with his Savior and soon felt the desire to prepare himself for the ministry. He went to the Red Wing Seminary, Rew(sic) Wing, Minn., in the fall of 1884, and was graduated from the academic department in 1886. He entered the theological department in the fall of the same year, and was graduated in 1889 as valedictorian of his class. Soon after graduation he was united in marriage to Miss Hannah Munson, also from the Trinity Lutheran Church. (He served congregations at Soldier, Iowa and Paulina, Iowa. He confirmed this contributor’s grandmother in Soldier.) He leaves to cherish his memory, his companion in all his work, the true helpmate, his wife, Hannah Dorothea; his five children: Mrs. Grace Juel, of Chicago; Rev. R. A. Harrisville, Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; Mrs. I. O. Miller, wife of Pastor Miller, of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Oregon, Illinois; Lawrence and Howard of Chicago; also four grand-children.
