He had lived in the Soldier vicinity for 80 years. The past several years he has made his home with his daughter, the Frank Laidlers. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Soldier Luther Church with Pastor Harry C. Sorensen officiating. Mrs. Norman C. Hanson was soloist and she was accompanied by Mrs. Harry Andersen on the organ. Songs were “In The Garden” and “The Old Rugged Cross”. Interment was in Soldier Valley Cemetery under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier. Elk Lodge No. 586 AF & AM of Moirhead(sic) conducted graveside services with Ralph Oldham as orator and Voyle Blackman in charge as Worshipful Master. Pallbearers were John Hedum, Wm. Thompson, Robert Sakariason and Robert Heffernan. Mr. Hedum was born March 26, 1873 in Norway. He was married to Karen Peterson at Soldier. Most of his active life he was a farmer and carpenter. He was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church and the Masonic lodge at Moorhead. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Willie Lee and Mrs. Frank Laidler, both of Soldier; two sons, Carl of Arthur and Rudolph of Whiting; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Strain of Seattle, Washington and Mrs. Hilda Solberg of Onawa, and a brother, Edwin of Hartington, Nebr. And also two great great grandchildren.
