Former Soldierite
Dies at Denver                             (From the collection of Vivian 
Norby Andersen)

	Oscar Holt, a former resident of the Soldier community, passed away at 
Denver, Colorado on November 4.  Oscar had lived in Denver for many years but 
grew up in the Soldier community.
	Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 at Olingers 
Mortuary in Denver with Rev. E. Harner officiating.  Burial was in Crown Hill 
Memorial Park there.
	Mrs. Minnie Peterson, Mrs. Gladys Williams and Mrs. Floyd Mitchell 
were out-of-town relatives attending the funeral.
	Oscar Holt, son of Hans and Anna Amunson Holt, was born January 25, 
1895 in Soldier, Iowa and passed away November 4, 1964 in Denver, Colorado.
	He attended school in Soldier and was a member of the Soldier Lutheran 
Church.  In 1917 he enlisted in the Army and was in the 12th Coast Artillery 
Defense.  When he received his discharge he went to Denver where he made his 
home.
	He married Lena Elizabeth Davenport in Golden, Colo. March 25, 1922.  
To this union five children were born, Earl, Betty Ann, Earlene, Donna and 
Carroll.
	Mr. Holt was employed by the Railroad Express Agency and retired in 
1959 after 41 years of service and was a member of the Queen City Lodge No. 
2009 of Brotherhood of Railway and Steamship Clerks.
	Surviving are three children, Earl of Mountain, Idaho; Betty Ann Eck 
of Denver and Carroll Vetter of St. Louis, Mo.
	Preceding him in death were his wife, Lena; two children, Earlene and 
Donna; his parents; four brothers and one sister.  Local survivors include 
Mrs. Minnie Peterson and Ole Holt of Soldier and Mrs. Inga Mangen of Ute and 
many nieces and nephews.
