And Sarah Hendricksen LaSeur, was born in Harrison county, Iowa on February 22, 1889, and passed away at Turin, Iowa on October 15, 1963 at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 23 days. As a small child she moved with her parents to the Moorhead vicinity where she grew to womanhood. She received her education in Moorhead public school, graduating with the class of 1907. After attending normal training school at Woodbine, she taught rural schools in the Pisgah and Moorhead communities. Following her marriage to Earl Jones of Moorhead, she lived in the Soldier vicinity until their retirement from the farm in 1961. At that time they purchased a home in Turin where she resided until her death. In her teens she was baptized and confirmed a member of Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She remained an active member until her illness two months ago. For many years she served her church as organist and was active in this capacity as long as her health permitted. Since she received no formal training in music it can truly be said of her that she was blessed with a God- given talent which she willingly shared with others. Her only son, Russell, preceded her in death on February 19, 1961. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband; one daughter, Mrs. John Ballantyne of Moorhead; one brother, Frank LaSeur, Moorhead; two sisters, Mrs. Josie Ballantyne of Lamoni, Iowa and Mrs. Didama Garner of Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 at the RLDS church in Moorhead with Elders Wilbur Mann and Lewis Moore conducting the service. Magnus Jepson sang Home, Beautiful Home and Face To Face, accompanied by Mrs. Jepson. Organist for the service was Mrs. Lewis Moore. The casket bearers were Roy Severson, Earl Chambers, Walfred Anderson, Paul Peterson, Clarence Burke and Cloyd Mann. Interment was in the Spring Valley cemetery at Morohead(sic) with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home. ‘Tis Life Beyond I watched a sail until it dropped From sight Over the rounding sea. A gleam of White, A last far-flashed farewell, and, like A thought Slipt out of mind, it vanished and Was not. Yet to the helmsman at the wheel Broad seas still stretched beneath The gliding keel. Disaster? Change He felt no Slightest sign, Nor dreamed he of that far horizon Line. So may it be, perchance, when down The tide Our dear ones vanish, peacefully They glide On level seas, nor mark the unknown Bound. We call it death – to them ‘tis life Beyond.
