He had been ill for some time and had been a resident at a nursing home there for several years. Funeral services will be held at the Soldier Lutheran church in Soldier this Thursday, August 19 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Harry Sorensen will officiate. Mrs. Norman C. Hanson will be soloist and will sing “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Just As I Am.” Julie Amunson will be at the organ. Interment will be in Soldier Valley cemetery under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home. Bearers will be Ronald Knutson, Richard Knutson, Russell Knutson, Wilmer Knutson, Jr., Milford Klaus and Herbert Neumann. Richard C. Knutson, son of Knud and Kate Knutson, was born July 21, 1878 at Moorhead, Iowa and passed away August 16, 1965 at Sioux City at the age of 87 years. He was united in marriage to Gunda Ulven at Soldier Aril 1, 1903. Most of his active life was spent in farming. He was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church. He is survived by three sons, Roy and Henry of Sioux City and Wilmer C. of Soldier; one daughter, Mrs. Ernest Klaus of Ute; one adopted daughter, Miss Clarice Kelley of Los Angeles, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lena Thompson of Bashaw, Alberta, Canada. He was preceded in death by his wife and two sons, Clark and Milford.
