Mrs. Knutson was a daughter of Mrs. Ole A. Ulven and had lived near Soldier for many years. She was apparently in the prime of life and her death is a shock to her many relatives and friends. Gunda Ulven Knutson was born February 13, 1883, at Soldier, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith, and grew to womanhood in this vicinity. In the year 1903 she was united in holy wedlock to Richard Knutson. To this union six children were born, two having preceded her in death. As she became ill she was taken to the hospital in Ute, Iowa, where an operation was submitted to but she passed away two weeks later on Saturday, February 25, 1933, at 2:45, aged 50 year and 12 days. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband; three sons, Roy, Wilmar and Henry of Soldier, one daughter, Mrs. Ernest Klause of Charter Oak; one adopted daughter, Clarice Kelley; her aged mother, Mrs. Karn Ulven; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Nelsen of Soldier, Mrs. Ray Braden of Lebanon, Oregon, Mrs. Leonard Wood of Charter Oak; four brothers, Olaf, Harold and Evan of Soldier and Alfred Ulven of Oregon; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted from the home of her sister, Mrs. Martha Nelsen and at the church in Soldier by Rev. O. B. Anderson of Onawa, on Monday, February 27.
