Larson Dies at Dunlap (From the collection of Vivian Norby Andersen) Oscar L. Larson, 61, of Dunlap passed away at his home near there on Wednesday, May 3. He had been in ill health for several months. Oscar was a former resident of the Soldier community and owned and operated the farm south of Soldier where Earl Chambers lives for many years. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church in Dunlap Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock with Pastor Maynard Moen of Soldier Lutheran Church giving the sermon. Burial was in Soldier Valley Cemetery under the direction of Barrett Funeral Home of Dunlap. Oscar Levi Larson, son of Hans and Anna Larson, was born January 26, 1900 at Soldier, Iowa and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Soldier Lutheran Church. He was united in marriage to Elma Christine Norby February 1, 1922 and to this union was born three daughters, Eddith, Arlene and Joyce. He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Eddith and Arlene. He passed from this life May 3, 1961 at the age of 61 years, 3 months and 9 days and is survived by his wife, Elma, one daughter, Joyce (Mrs. A. J. Eckerman) of Scotts Bluff, Nebraska, and two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Conrad Rude of Ute and one brother, Harold, of Dunlap, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
