Obituary of
Mrs. Ada Larson                               (From the collection of Vivian 
Norby Andersen)

	Mrs. Ada Larson, a former Monona county resident, passed away in 
California on Wednesday, Sept. 25, after a few months’ illness.  Services were 
held Friday, Sept. 27 at 2:30 p.m. at the Inglewood Mortuary Garden Chapel, 
1206 Centinela Ave., Inglewood, Calif., with interment at the Inglewood Park 
cemetery.
	Mrs. Ada Larson, daughter of John and Jennie Pritchard, was born July 
6, 1882 near Strawberry Point, Iowa.  As a young girl she came with her 
parents to Ida Grove and later to Mapleton.  On June 15, 1910, at the home of 
her parents in Mapleton, she was married to LeRoy Larson of Soldier, Iowa.  He 
preceded her in death in 1949.
	Beginning in 1908 and continuing for several years Mrs. Larson, then 
Ada Pritchard, taught school in Soldier.  She and Mr. and Mrs. Whitehead were 
the entire teaching staff at that time.  Since 1940 she made her home in 
Inglewood.
	Mrs. Larson was very active in the Rebekah Lodge, having served as 
Noble Grand of the Lodges in Ute, Iowa, McAllen, Texas and Inglewood.  In 
October of 1962 she was honored by the Rebekah Lodge of California when she 
was presented with the “Order of Chivalry” at their annual meeting in Fresno.
	Survivors include sons:  Floyd of Soldier, Iowa; Royce of Anchorage, 
Alaska; Ralph of Inglewood; daughter:  Irene Dumkrieger of Soldier; sister:  
Ruth Jacobson of Los Angeles; brother:  John Pritchard of Upland, Calif.  Also 
surviving are eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.  Two of 
the great grandchildren were among the pall bearers.
