Lee, 80, of Ute, a former resident of the Soldier area, died Saturday at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness. He had farmed in the Soldier, Ute and Moorhead areas. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Soldier Lutheran Church with Pastor Harry C. Sorensen officiating. Margaret Evenson was organist and Mrs. Norman C. Hanson was soloist. Interment was in St. Clair cemetery under the direction of Walter Funeral Service. Pallbearers were C. L. Flynn, Gordon Mann, James Hartigan, Johannes Peterson, LaVerne Holverson and Elmer Savery. Carl Theodore Lee, son of Carrie and Martin Lee, was born October 8, 1884 at Moorhead, Iowa. He was one of a family of ten children. He grew up on his parents farm in the Moorhead vicinity. He later began farming on his own and throughout his life farmed in the Moorhead, Soldier and Ute communities. In 1933 he moved to a farm one mile south of Ute and spent the remainder of his life there. He married Gladys Eisenhut on April 19, 1911 at Sioux City. This union was blessed with seven children. He was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church and was baptized as an infant in 1884 and confirmed in 1899. He departed this life at a Sioux City hospital February 27, 1965 at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 19 days. Surviving are his wife, Gladys of Ute; three daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Letty) Schlie of Gardena, Calif., Mrs. Wayne (Minnie) Johnson of Columbus, Nebr., and Mrs. Lloyd (Jennie) Pautsch of Charter Oak; 3 sons, Tony of Ute, Giles of Hornick and Gerald of Englewood, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Martin Kalskett of Moorhead, Mrs. Walter Thompson of Sioux City and Mrs. Richard Smith of Hollywood, Calif.; two brothers, William and Theodore, both of Soldier; 12 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, two sisters and two brothers.
