He suffered a heart attack at his home and died shortly after reaching the hospital. Marvel was a resident of the Soldier community most of his life where he farmed. Funeral services were held at the Soldier Lutheran Country Church on Monday, May 23 at 2:00 p.m. Pastors Harry C. Sorensen and F. W. Thommsen officiated. Mrs. George O. Brown was soloist and Mrs. Eugene Baltz was at the organ. Songs were “If I Gained The World” and “Behold A Host.” Interment was in the Soldier Valley Cemetery under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home. Active bearers were Bryce, Elliott, Murl, Gale and Virgil Lee and Elmer Thompson. Honorary bearers were Herbert Holverson, Ward Jones, Chris Gregerson, Clarence Bergstrom, Newell Lund, Harold O. Boe and Oscar Holverson. Marvel Lee, a resident of Onawa the past 18 years, passed from this life at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa on Friday, May 20, 1966 at the age of 75 years, two months and 22 days. Death came as the result of an apparent heart attack which occurred about an hour earlier at his home. Mr. Lee was born February 28, 1891 at Ute, Iowa, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Lee. He engaged in farming all of his active life in the Soldier community until his retirement in February 1948 when he moved to Onawa to make hs(sic) home. He was united in marriage to Cora Thompson on December 10, 1913. To this union two sons were born, Marion and Everett. Marion passed away in infancy. Cora preceded him in death in 1918. On February 8, 1922 he was united in marriage to Ida Thompson at the Soldier country church. Since making his home in Onawa he was a faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He is survived by his widow, Ida; two sons, Everett at Appleton, Wis., and Myrlin of Onawa; one daughter, Marjorie (Mrs. Clark Ruffcorn) of Onawa; eight grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. David Wilson of West Liberty, Iowa; four brothers, Elmer and George, both of Soldier, Amos of West Des Moines, Iowa and Orren of Moorhead, also a number of other relatives and a host of friends.
