Funeral services were held at the Soldier Lutheran south church on Tuesday with Pastor Harold Koehler of Moorhead officiating. Music consisted of a trombone solo, “The Holy City”, by Jay Wicker and a vocal solo, “The Lord’s Prayer”, by Walter Neubaum, Jr. Mrs. Charles Dommer, Jr. was accompanist. Interment was in the Soldier Lutheran cemetery under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier. Bearers were Norman Lee, James Lee, Warren Clemon, Neil Clemon, Mike Humbert and Water Neubaum, Jr. Elene Lehmberg, daughter of George and Gyre Evanson Swenson, was born September 28, 1877 at Soldier, Iowa. She passed away at the Bennett Nursing Home in Turin on July 6, 1968, having attained the age of 90 years, 9 months and 8 days. “Ella” as she was better known, was united in marriage to Henry D. Lehmberg on September 28, 1899, at Soldier, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1949. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Grace Richards of Sioux City, Iowa, Mrs. Palmer Lee of Manley, Iowa and Mrs. Walter Neubaum of Barnum, Iowa; one son, William G. of Soldier, nine grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
