Mathison of Moorhead, formerly of Soldier were held at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead at 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Maynard Moen of Soldier Lutheran Church officiated. Burial was in Soldier Valley cemetery under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier. At the services Magnus Jepson sang “In The Garden” and “Old Rugged Cross.” He was accompanied by Mrs. Magnus Jepson. Miss Barbara Nielson was organist. Bearers were Kay Olson, Robert Mann, Russell Mann, David Hartigan, Gene Brenden and Tom Baker. Peter A. Hanson Post No. 365 of the American Legion, Moorhead, had charge of the interment service. Kenneth H. Mathison, son of Laura and Mathew Mathison, was born August 23, 1901 at Soldier, Iowa. He passed away November 1, 1961 at his home in Moorhead, Iowa. He spent the greater part of his life in the Soldier community where he worked as a service station operator and mechanic. For the past 17 years he lived in Moorhead. He served in the Army during World War 11(sic) and was a member of the Moorhead Legion Post. On April 28, 1941 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Olson at the south church. To this union one son was born. Surviving are the widow, one son, Grant Mathew; four sisters, Mrs. Gorden Mann (Bertha) of Ute, Mrs. Ted Mann (Mable) of Pisgah, Mrs. Vernon Christensen (Madeline) Denver, Colo. And Mrs. James Hartigan (Nadine) of Ute; three brothers, Conrad of Soldier, Harold of Moorhead and Howard of Council Bluffs. Also many other relatives and a host of friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.
