	Elvin B. Matthews, 81, died Sunday, December 6, 1992, at his home.
	He was born April 16, 1911, in Mohawk, TN, to Robert M. and Martha D. 
(Davis) Matthews.   On October 25, 1940, he married Jane Hopkins at the 
Blencoe church parsonage.  
	Survivors includ his wife, Jane; two sons and their wives, Jon and 
Cheralyn of Whiting and Robert and Elizabeth of Lubbock, TX; four 
grandchildren, Brian and Sara of Whiting and Elise and Eric of Lubbock, TX; 
two sister-in-laws, Dorothy Matthews of Whiting and Dorothy Clegg of Rockford, 
IL; two sisters, Selma Mink and Eureka Shipley, both of Tennessee; a twin 
brother, Elvis of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
	He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ralph, 
Francis, and Robert; and one sister, Charlcie.
