     Leona Jane McLaughlin, 89, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1998, at Morningside 
Manor in Alcester, SD
   Mrs. McLaughlin was born May 5, 1909, in Moorhead, Iowa, the daughter of 
Roy L. and Lois N. (Conyers) Scurlock. She married Floyd Barton McLaughlin on 
Aug. 27, 1929, in Dakota City. 

Survivors include a daughter, Jane Carol Ramsey of Onawa; a son and his wife, 
James Floyd and Annie of Beresford, S.D.; two sisters, Irene Maxey of San 
Bernardino, Calif., and Gerada and her husband, Leslie Gowey, of Lebanon, 
Ore.; two brothers, Donald R. Scurlock of Omaha, Neb., and William S. Scurlock 
and his wife, Lola, of Onawa; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four 
great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, John; two brothers, 
Earl and Lowel; three sisters, Venice Persons, Iola Tuttle and Zella Gierman; 
and a special friend, Carl O. Rustin.
