OLD TIME 
	RESIDENT DIES                      (From the collection of Vivian 
Norby Andersen)

	William McShannon, 82, one of the old-timers of the Soldier community 
passed away suddenly Friday, January 30.  
	
	Mr. McShannon was born August 8, 1887 at Campbelltown, Scotland, the 
son of John and Janet McMillin McShannon.  He came to America in 1905.  
	He was united in marriage with Anna Christensen at Onawa, Iowa on Oct. 
7, 1913.  To this union six children were born.  	Survivors include his 
wife, Anna; three daughters, Jeanette, Mrs. Hersel Hanson and MaryAnn, Mrs. 
Omar Nelson, both of Soldier and Florence, Mrs. Lester Saxen of Milpitas, 
Calif., 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Duncan 
McShannon of Omaha, Nebr. And Een of Scotland and one sister, Janet.  He was 
preceded in death by two sons, John, who died Dec. 24, 1944 in Belgium, 
Donald, who died at the age of two, and a baby who died at birth.
