Meadows Date indicated is Jan 21, 1958 Is Laid To Rest (From the collection of Vivian Norby Andersen) Mrs. Jane Evangeline Meadows, a resident of the Soldier community for 42 years, passed away at an Onawa nursing home Monday. She had made her home with a son, Allen, at Ute since the death of her husband last year. The last few years before the death of Mr. Meadows she had lived in Onawa but for many years prior to that time lived on a farm northeast of Soldier which is now farmed by a son, Lyle. She was 83 years old Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Soldier Lutheran Church, with Rev. Fitzgerald of Onawa officiating. Burial was in the St. Clair cemetery at Ute under the direction of Oldham funeral home of Soldier. Mrs. Jane Evangeline Meadows, was born in Springfield, Ill., March 10, 1874. She was married to William Meadows at Omaha in 1891, and the couple moved to a farm northeast of Soldier where they lived 42 years. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in 1957. Mr. Meadows died the same year. Survivors are 10 children: Mrs. Edna Meyers of Denison, Ia., Mrs. Effie Olson of Castana, Ia., Mrs. Rose Lee, Launie and Lyle, all of Soldier, Ray of Sioux City, Mrs. May Jerup of Chicago, Mrs. Hazel Messenbrink of Moorhead, Ia., Allen and Cecil, both of Ute; 44 grandchildren and 63 great- grandchildren.
