Funeral services were conducted by Pastor John C. Kilde at the Soldier Lutheran Church (country) and burial was in Soldier Valley cemetery under the direction of Oldham Funeral Home. Singers were Mrs. Norman C. Hanson and Mrs. Ted Lee. They were accompanied by Mrs. Harry Andersen. Pallbearers were all nephews Glenn Olson, Robert Melby, Milton Melby, Clifford Thoreson, Harlow Wingate and Virgil Olson. Mrs. Melby was baptized and confirmed at Soldier Lutheran Church and lived in this vicinity all her life. She was united in marriage to Adolph Melby on August 30, 1906 at Onawa, Iowa. To this union thirteen children were born, three dying in infancy. On September 2, 1956 Mrs. and Mrs. Melby held open house at the country church in honor of their golden wedding anniversary at which over 200 relatives and friends came to greet them. Since then they they(sic) have lived near Moorhead. She was a very devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her family and many relatives and friends. She is survived by her husband, Adolph and 10 children, namely, Kenneth, Arnold, Willard, of Dunlap, Leonard of Moorhead and Dale of Woodbine, Mrs. Richard Andrews of Moorhead, Mrs. Gilma Burson of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Lorainne Price of Sioux City, Mrs. Agnes Weber and Mrs. Leo Hull of Dunlap; 39 grandchildren and 22 preat(sic) grandchildren and also one sister, Mrs. Bertha Olson of Dunlap.
